Abstract

This dissertation was developed in the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) of the Federal University of Mato Grosso and is part of the research line Social Movements, Politics and Popular Education, under the guidance linked to the Center for Studies and Research on Racial Relations and Education (Nepre). It investigates the contributions of the collection Education and Racial Relations, published by Nepre from 2007 to 2016, for Basic Education in Mato Grosso. The interest in research comes from the understanding, as a teacher of Basic Education, about the continuous need to disseminate the knowledge produced, which can contribute to the improvement of school education. The general objective to be achieved is to analyze, within the scope of the collection, the productions of Nepre that have contributed to the education of ethnic-racial relations in basic education from the reality of the state of Mato Grosso. The research is of a qualitative nature. Documental analysis is adopted as a methodological guideline, according to Gil (2009) and Lakatos and Marconi (2003), having as source the copies that make up the aforementioned collection and as a theoretical reference Muller (2008), Munanga (2005), Costa (2011). It is expected to be able to contribute to pedagogical practices and to subsidize educational and curricular policies aimed at promoting the education of ethnic-racial relations in the school environment. The results of the research, according to the analysis of the fifteen titles surveyed, showed the existence of racism in the school environment of basic education in the modalities of elementary and high school in public schools, municipal and state spheres. In addition to demystifying persistent racism in basic education, it is necessary to train teachers, managers and employees, so that the chool breaks with the silenced racism that persists in the school unit, because, when it finds space, it systematically reproduces racial inequality.This work is of paramount importance because of the fifteen titles researched, the existence of racism in the school environment of basic education in the modalities of fundamental and secondary education in public schools in the municipal and state spheres was verified.
